Kids say…

I was in the supermarket the other day, waiting in line. I was trying not to zone out, it had been a busy and productive day but I stupidly left the supermarket until last and I was tired.

In front of me in the line was a father with two small boys. I’m guessing 5 and 7 or something like that. They were just being boys. They weren’t being destructive or getting in the way of other customers but they were entertaining themselves in the way boys do.

They were smacking each other on the backside. Dancing in a circle, trying to keep their own bum out of the other boy’s reach while at the same time being able to smack the other’s backside. It kept them busy and Dad was sensible enough to allow it to go on but not to let it escalate too much.

Anyway, after a while the smacking got boring and one boy turned to the other and asked, ‘Can I bite your bum?’

I found it hilarious. Why would you want to? Where does the idea come from? Is it a natural extension of the smacking? So funny.
